JOB SUMMARY: The Bilingual Navigator Case Worker (Outreach) works with the Partnerships Manager to support navigator services in partner parishes and provides case management services for newly arrived immigrants. The position works collaboratively with the other Newcomer Network departments (ILS and Navigators) to create opportunities for collaboration and connect our services to our partners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with the Partnerships Manager and parish-based Navigators to plan and implement education sessions at Archdiocesan parishes with high immigrant population by:
    1. Meeting with parish personnel to assess the need and desire for education sessions in the parish.
    2. Working with parish personnel to schedule sessions, identify and secure facilities, and advertise the program to parishioners.
    3. Identifying and recruiting staff and volunteers to teach/facilitate each session.
    4. Preparing and organizing class materials and handouts.
    5. Tracking attendance and implementing an instrument to measure outcomes.
  • Assist the Partnerships Manager in developing and maintaining relationships with parish, NGO, and governmental partners by:
    1. Representing the Newcomer Network at meetings, resource fairs and community events.
    2. Maintaining regular contact with assigned parishes and nonprofit partners and monitoring ongoing communications.
    3. Researching and exploring community resources that will enable the program to better serve newcomer clients.
    4. Assisting the program manager in maintaining, updating, and reevaluating the program's resource binder and its list of partners.
  • Collaborate with the Newcomer Network team in the provision of services by:
    1. Actively participating in team meetings, reporting on the progress of cases, and working with colleagues to problem-solve and develop solutions.
    2. Assisting team members in identifying new community partnerships to help meet emerging needs of clients.
  • Perform individual casework for partner parishes through:
    1. Conducting needs assessments with clients and developing goal plans in accordance with the needs and wishes of the clients.
    2. Making referrals to providers and assisting clients in connecting with providers for benefit programs, support services, and training and educational opportunities.
  • Collaborate with service providers and advocate for clients as needed by:
    1. Maintaining prompt and regular contact with clients in the ongoing provision of services.
    2. Conducting monthly follow-ups with clients for up to one year to evaluate and document service success and outcomes.
  • Document outputs and outcomes by:
    1. Promptly administering initial assessment instruments, periodic follow-up assessments, and entering scores in the database.
    2. Entering and maintaining client data into designated computer systems and maintaining client files (paper and electronic) in accordance with policies and procedures.
    3. Tracking all referrals and their outcomes.
    4. Timely completing and submitting qualitative and quantitative reports as required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate's degree, preferably in a social services field.
  • Three (3) years of experience providing services to vulnerable populations.
SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
  • Strong spoken communication skills in English and in Spanish.
  • Ability to work with staff, volunteers, and clients with different cultural needs, attitudes, and behaviors and to do so effectively.
