Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami is Hiring a Lead Counselor Masters & Licensed Near Miami, FL

Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervision:

  • Provide weekly supervision to counselors individually or as a group.
  • Co-facilitate weekly interdisciplinary staffing.
  • Countersign and review assessments and treatment plans of non-qualified counselors.
  • Review and assist with treatment status report for appropriate courts.
  • Facilitate and coordinate trainings for clinical team.
  • Review and update of program policies and procedures, including development when necessary.
  • Ensure Fidelity of evidence based curriculum.
  • Work with the counselors in addressing behavioral intervention.
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and training with regards to MH diagnoses.
  • Review Charts to ensure adherence to Agency and regulatory requirements as follows:

Screening & Intake:

  • Screen potential consumers within 24 hours of referral.
  • Gives priority to consumer with urgent needs or emergency situations.
  • Provides for placement on a waiting list if consumer cannot be admitted.
  • Consumers who cannot be served or cannot be served promptly are referred or connected to appropriate resources.
  • Completes clinical intake documentation for admissions.

Assessment:

  • Using standardized criteria and assessment instruments; the needs of the consumer and their family are matched with the level and intensity of available services.
  • Unmet medical needs identified in the assessment are addressed directly; i.e., medical detoxification medications monitoring and management, physical exams, laboratory testing and toxicology screens.
  • Completes the clinical assessment for consumers within 10 days or sooner if required by licensing or accrediting regulations and/or funder.

Service Planning & Monitoring:

  • A service plan is developed within 15 days of admission for residential and 30 days for outpatient.
  • Consumers in crisis or having identified urgent needs are required to have a service plan within 24 hours.
  • Service plans are developed with the full participation of the consumer receiving services.
  • Service plans are based on the assessment and include;
  • Agreed upon goals,
  • Desired outcomes,
  • Timeframes for achieving outcomes,
  • Services and supports to be provided, and
  • The service recipients’ signature.
  • Each consumer’s service plan is reviewed and updated every 30 days and discussed in clinical staffing.

Therapeutic and Educational Interventions:

  • Engage and motivate consumers and families by providing weekly individual therapy.
  • Provide group therapy sessions as assigned with use of evidence based curriculum implemented by program.
  • Explore and clarify in individual and group sessions reasons for treatment and living a sober life.
  • Identify successful coping or problem solving strategies for staying sober.
  • Provide trauma based care techniques for victims of abuse, neglect, assault or other violence.
  • Evaluate progress towards achieving identified goals and modify service plan as appropriate.
  • Provide educational sessions based on Hazelden curriculum.
  • Coordinate care with other service providers when appropriate and with the consent of the consumer.
  • Participate with the clinical team making decisions about level of care, treatment, discharge planning and follow-up.
  • Progress notes shall be entered into the client record documenting a client’s progress or lack of progress toward meeting treatment plan goals and objectives at a minimum weekly for residential and according to the frequency of sessions for outpatient.

Aftercare & Follow-Up:

  • Develop the aftercare plan during 30 day Treatment Plan review.
  • Aftercare plan must detail the services needed or desired by the consumer and steps to prevent relapse.
  • With the permission of the consumer, follow-up by phone 30 and 120 days post discharge.

Case Closing:

  • Case closing begins at intake and culminates in the consumer and family completing the agreed upon service goals.
  • Upon closing a case all collaborating service providers are notified.
  • Consumers discharged prior to completing the program are linked by the organization to appropriate services.

Additional Duties:

  • Participates in all related trainings, in-services, and staff meetings as required by COA and funding /licensing sources.
  • Incumbent will comply with all policies, procedures and requirements necessary to perform the functions of this position.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late evenings and some weekends.
  • On call 24/7
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical Demands:

The work is usually sedentary, but may require long periods of standing, walking and /or bending and some light lifting. The work is mostly performed in a secure office setting

Educational & Experiential Requirements:

  • LCSW preferred or LMHC
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling.
  • 2 years Licensed Clinical Experience in Substance Abuse and Mental Health.
  • At least 2 years of progressive supervisory experience, qualified supervisor a plus.
