POSITION SUMMARY:

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings through the implementation and management of the Refugee programs. Provide leadership and direction to staff assigned to programs and ensure resources, training and tools are appropriate and assist in effective and efficient program delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and direct programming pertaining to all assigned Refugee programs within the agency. 
  • Recruit, manage, and develop high performing teams of professional staff and volunteers; ensure that all are trained in procedures, policies, and applications associated with their job and are prepared to provide effective, efficient, and high quality services to all clients.
  • Responsible for the supervision of staff including accountability of hiring, assigning, appraising performance, rewarding and discipline, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Includes being available to them as needed with monthly supervision of each direct report in one-on-one discussions.
  • Ensure staff adhere to all policies and procedures regarding both programming implementation and fiscal management (expense reports, grant expenditures, check requests, credit card reconciliations)
  • Function as a good steward of resources provided by the agency, volunteers, and donors. Ensure that goods, services, and monies are distributed equitably, consistently, and within agency and funding guidelines.
  • Identify community needs and maintain existing programming, support partnerships with other agencies to address those needs. 
  • Review and maintain monthly detailed expense and income reports with staff. Work closely with team, accounting, and Sr. Director, Refugee and Immigration Services to develop and adhere to yearly budgets.
  • Deliver expected outputs and outcomes for assigned programs that include the assurance that all statistical information is collected, recorded accurately and timely in all agency and/or partner databases.
  • Utilize volunteer support, where appropriate, in conjunction with the Volunteer Department to enhance resources available to clients.
  • Support working relationships with community and funding agencies to provide quality services and remain in compliance.
  • Prepare reports and communications as requested by Senior Leadership. 
  • Maintains professional conduct according to the NASW guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrate a passion for the mission of Catholic Charities
  • Must be willing to perform by the agency’s values: love, patience, kindness, faithfulness, self- control and joy
  • Catholic Charities promotes a diverse workforce.   • Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required
  • 5 years of non-profit management experience.
  • 3 years experience in refugee and/or immigration service
  • BS in Social Services or similar industry, Master’s preferred 
  • Knowledge of public policy and how it affects refugee populations
  • Experience working with federal grants/funding
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that is very diverse 
  • Must have highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, professional and able to follow instructions and handle emergency situations.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
  • Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri Driver’s license, dependable transportation, current vehicle insurance and a verified safe driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and moving
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases
  • Must have the physical ability to make visits to a variety of environments that may include walking on rough terrain and climbing stairs
  • Must have physical ability to effectively communicate with others
  • Must have the physical ability and appropriate licensure for driving
