Catholic Charities of Louisville is Hiring a Senior Grant Accounting Analyst Near louisville, KY

Overview

Under general supervision, perform grant accounting functions for Kentucky Office of Refugees (KOR), and a variety of programs, providing financial support to the State Refugee Coordinator, Chief Financial Officer, (CFO), Agency Directors and external sources, as required. Perform quarterly, bi-annual, and annual federal financial reporting. Perform annual audit functions including preparation of the annual SEFA. Prepare and manage federally funded sub-recipient awards for KOR across the state. Work in a team environment, contributing to the success and credibility of the finance office in a variety of roles with a willingness to take on new responsibilities, improve efficiencies, solve problems, and provide backup to other finance office staff.

Salary $6250 a month

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Bachelor’s Degree in related field with a minimum of 3 to 5 years accounting experience. Reasonable accommodations may be made to those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job. Federal grant management experience highly preferrable.

Job Skills / Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

Strategic Financial Reporting and Analysis:

1. Understand all financial-related grant or contract compliance requirements. Meet reporting deadlines, both internal and external, support program staff as necessary to maintain compliance.

2. Interpret, understand, and enforce 2-CFR-200 guidance to federal grants and sub-awards.

3. Provide support and guidance to other KOR Grant Accounting Staff and sub-awardees.

4. Provide support, guidance, and clarification on allowability of expenses under 2-CFR-200 and GAAP for sub-awardees.

5. Prepare monthly financial statements, including budget v actual results.

6. Oversee preparation and integrity of monthly financial report spreadsheets for federal financial reporting and reporting to the State Refugee Coordinator.

7. Prepare monthly projections for all KOR grant awards.

8. Prepare and/or review budgets for proposals for assigned and new programs. Enter approved budgets into accounting software. Update budgets as necessary.

9. Prepare timely financial reports and invoices required by funding agencies (federal, state or private funding sources) for assigned programs.

10. Complete sub awards/subcontracts. Perform and document financial sub recipient monitoring on federal sub awards.

11. Set up new grants in MIP, following Agency standard.

12. Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules for all external audits and monitoring visits.

13. Close federal grants in a timely manner.

14. Provide guidance and draft sub-award terms and conditions related to accounting and finance standards in line with 2-CFR-200.

15. Provide input to and assist in drafting and maintenance of finance office accounting policies and procedures.

16. Take initiative to improve efficiencies in finance office operations, procedures, and contract/grants management.

17. Act as backup, as necessary, for other finance office staff.

Internal Customer Service:

18. Provide financial related customer service and act as financial resource to assigned program directors program managers.

19. Build and maintain professional and credible relationships with assigned program directors and staff.

20. Coordinate regular meetings with program directors to provide financial related support including review program financials, projections, answer compliance questions and other program financial needs.

21. Support program directors with accounting support needs surrounding merchant services, fundraising and event registrations, as needed.

Routine/Recurring Accounting Responsibilities:

22. Prepare budgets for KOR and provide support in budget preparation to Program Directors and CFO.

23. Prepare monthly financial statements (MTD/YTD) for internal/external reporting.

24. Review monthly financial statements to ensure that all expenditures meet Grantor and Agency requirements. Be sure that accounting period cut-off is accurate.

25. Verify accuracy of allocation journal entries for monthly close. Check to annual plan, source documents.

26. Maintain electronic program/financial records according to the Agency/Grantor records retention policy.

27. Project cash needs, draw funds from correct grant award and award year, monitor grants receivable to ensure timely, adequate cash flow.

28. Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support.

29. Initiate accounts payable documents for vendor payment.

30. Review and approve sub award reimbursement requests.

31. Review and approve payment of contractor invoices.

32. Provide technical assistance to sub awardees and contractors.

33. Complete sub award financial monitoring to ensure compliance with GAAP, A-133 OMB Circular, and federal grant terms and conditions.

34. Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This work is performed in an office setting with moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people moving. Works in a general office environment, periodically supports offsite program events (fundraisers, conferences) for cash management support. Occasional overnight travel may be required for monitoring visits and training events.

EFFORT:

· Ability to sit, stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.

· Position requires constant use of hands and arms to input data into computer and use adding machine. Repeated hand and wrist motions.

· Must be able to move boxes of files and/or standard office equipment up to 20 lbs. from one location to another and must be able to squat and stoop to retrieve low files.

· Must be able to concentrate for long periods of times.

· Specific vision abilities include close and distant vision.

· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

· Ability to work under pressure.

· Ability to accurately examine and analyze information

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT: telephone, computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, and shredder.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Demonstrated professional level of customer service and communication supporting nonfinancial managers with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting support.

· Working knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting/cost allocation principles, budgeting, and projections, preferably with experience in accounting for not-for-profits and application of federal accounting regulations and cost accounting standards, 2-CFR-200.

· Strong technical, analytical, organization skills

· Extensive, demonstrated working knowledge of Excel, competence with other Office software and accounting software packages. Experience with Abila MIP a plus.

· Ability to administer grant compliance and reporting requirements.

· Demonstration of strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.

· High level of integrity and dependability.

· Ability to pass a criminal background check and a credit check.
