Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is one of the largest human services providers in California that operates a variety of programs to serve the poor and strives to find permanent solutions to crisis situations by offering clients the tools and resources needed to achieve greater self-reliance and stability in their lives.

The person in this role will organize and lead recreation activities, including league play and play-offs for various sports.

Responsibilities:

• Assists in the implementation of the CYO sports program including scheduling facilities and officials, maintaining public relations with school officials where sports are played, monitoring officials, coaches and staff and arranging arbitration as necessary.
• Represent CYO in designated region as first point of contact. Respond to field inquiries. Schedule and attend all coaches meetings for each sport. Post scores on CYO website in a timely manner. Attend all CYO staff and advisory board meetings.
• Be trained and conduct coach training such as the Play Like a Champion program for coaches in your area (three to four times per year). Attend and lend support at CYO Playoffs, Competition, Banquet and other official program events.
• Develops program content and leads recreation activities to enhance the social development of children or youth. Activities may include individual or group sports and events. Teaches and participates in activities, assesses/reports progress towards goals.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Two years of college education in related field.
• One to three years of related experience.
• Experience working with grade school children and parents/guardians in sports related activities.
• Principles of organization.
• The community and its resources.
• Emergency procedures, first aid and CPR.
• Direct, train, and supervise the work of assigned personnel.
• Work with elementary school children and teenagers.
• Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
• Use independent judgment and initiative.
• Maintain accurate and orderly records.
• Organize and direct several activities.
• Display sensitivity, tact, and responsiveness in various situations and needs.
• Handle public contact effectively.

This is a temporary role from June-August.
