General Responsibilities 

  1. Coordinates all Agency fundraising events, including but not limited to: A fall fundraising event, First Look for Charity (FLFC), A Swing and a Prayer golf outing, and other regional events.
  2. Coordinates all Mobile Food Pantry distributions, including scheduling, organizing, and on-site support.
  3. Coordinates various collection drives and in-kind giving fundraisers, including Undy Sunday and Christmas giving programs. 
  4. Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Essential Functions

Collection Drives

  1. Coordinate with staff to learn each program's various needs and determine what to request from donors. 
  2. Communicate with donors to schedule events, provide lists of needed items, receive donated items, distribute items to Agency sites and programs, and ensure that donations are recorded and donors are thanked.
  3. Maintain contact and be the primary liaison with church, private, and government organizations who partner with Catholic Charities to provide gifts at holidays.
  4. Coordinate all aspects of the Undy Sunday collection drives each October.

Fundraising Events

  1. Coordinate strategy and budgeting, secure venue, procure necessary licensing, recruit volunteers, and ensure the event is well-organized and runs smoothly on-site. 
  2. Coordinates other events, programs, and fundraisers as assigned.
  3.  Works with Senior Development Officers to secure sponsorships and auction/raffle prizes.
  4. Attends each Agency event and all meetings related to events.
  5. Networks with Agency staff and community organizations to ensure well-executed and comprehensive events. 
  6. Transports all event-related materials (examples: silent auction items, signage, safety equipment, decorations) to/from events as required.

Mobile Food Pantry (MFP)

  1. Communicates with Northern Illinois Food Bank and MFP host sites to schedule distributions. 
  2. Works with Northern Illinois Food Bank to determine new locations based on the greatest area of need.
  3. Onboards new locations for MFPs.
  4. Attends each Mobile Food Pantry event to manage logistics.
  5. Reports and tracks all Mobile Food Pantry event statistics after each distribution.
  6. Supports the Grants Manager in providing necessary information and/or presentations to help secure grant funding related to the MFP.
  7. Works with Fiscal Department to ensure all funding is spent within calendar year requirements.

Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required for this position. All degrees must come from a regionally accredited educational institution with US Department of Education approval.
  2. At least three (3) years of experience planning and executing special events and maintaining volunteer recruitment for such events is required.
  3. Demonstrated ability to initiate, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key individuals for the benefit of the Agency.
  4. Demonstrated ability to function as a team member and participant.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and constructively with people from all racial and diverse cultures, family systems, and social backgrounds.
  6. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Passage of complete background clearance and any other required testing or clearances.
  9. Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, has adopted and follows the Codes of Ethics established by Catholic Charities USA, the National Association of Social Workers, and the American Psychological Association. As an employee of the Agency, you are expected to support these codes to the extent that doing so is consistent with and allowed by applicable law.
  10. A valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of liability insurance are required.
