Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Providence is seeking a Laborer to conduct basic grounds maintenance at diocesan cemetery locations throughout the state of Rhode Island. This person will help ensure all services are conducted with dignity and respect to the Roman Catholic Church.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn the policies and procedures of the cemetery.
• Responsible to the foremen of the respective cemetery.
• Lawn and landscape maintenance, including but not limited to: cutting and trimming of grass and shrubs, leaf pick-up, landscape bed maintenance, and snow removal.
• Proper use of all hand and motorized tools (once properly trained).
• Notify foremen and/or mechanic of any operational concerns of tools.
• Responsible for their surroundings when operating any machinery.
• Perform other related duties as directed by foremen to assist with the care and maintenance of the cemetery.

The well-qualified candidate must have a high school diploma. Experience in or working knowledge of cemeteries is a plus. Applicants must also possess excellent people skills, work well with others, and project a positive and respectful image to co-workers and visitors. Must display compassion and empathy in dealing with grieving family members.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm; Saturdays as needed.
