5th grade teacher

St. Raymond School in Joliet, IL is seeking candidates for a self-contained 5th grade teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Ideal candidates should have a love for God’s children, instill critical and deep thinking into their teaching, and have a strong interest in continuous growth and learning as an educator.

Defining pillars of a St. Raymond teacher

St. Ray’s teachers view themselves as learners. Education is an ever evolving field. Teachers seek to learn not because “we are not good enough but because we can be even better, which means there is no limit to what we can achieve.” (Dylan Wiliam)

St. Raymond teachers are collaborative. Together they breathe the mission and vision of St. Ray’s into life. Having built positive, collegial relationships with each other, St. Ray’s teachers conduct instructional rounds, share their professional learning, and open their classrooms to instructional coaching. St. Ray’s teachers don’t just view success based on the results of the students in their classrooms, but work to insure that ALL classrooms are succeeding at higher and higher levels of achievement in alignment with curriculum frameworks and standards.

St. Ray’s teachers are committed to excellence. They aren’t afraid to push the envelope in the approach they take to teaching and learning so that students can achieve at their highest potential. Because of this, they do not follow textbooks page by page, but instead design units around standards that are research-based and student-centric.

St. Ray’s teachers are caring and compassionate. They come to know every student as an individual and work relentlessly to ensure academic success. They give generously of their time (within reason, of course) because they know their work is what makes the difference in creating a high achieving school.

St. Ray’s teachers believe in educating the whole child which forms the spiritual, intellectual, and social capacities of each person. They honor the humanity of each student and believe this approach is critical to preparing each child to reach their full potential. They create an environment of belonging and connection for students to engage and thrive.
