Cathedral Montessori School is seeking a candidate for a Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher.
A CMS Montessori teacher is dedicated to the mission of the school, committed to the study of Montessori pedagogy, motivated to work collaboratively, committed to self-reflective practice and professional development, and understands that this a profession that requires additional time, commitment, and responsibilities outside of the regular school day. The Montessori teacher will teach in a 6-9 environment, and be responsible to themselves, the children, and the team; to be self-motivated, self-directed, and able to manage time effectively while fulfilling curriculum.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of Cathedral Montessori School.
Supports and implements standards of LMA accreditation.
Commits to professional growth as a Montessori Teacher and employee of Cathedral Montessori School.
Complies with the policies and procedures as articulated by the school’s Faculty Handbook.
Upholds professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion.
Appropriately executes Montessori philosophy and curriculum.
Establishes a professional relationship with parents, maintaining open lines of communication regularly.
Supervises and plans for the developmental needs of the children, on an individual and group level, in the areas of academic, social-emotional, and psychomotor growth.
Designs curriculum areas and arranges furniture for optimum use of space and prepares an environment with well-defined curriculum areas and a complement of materials appropriate to the needs of the children.
Develops and implements individual and group lessons.
Creates and prepares materials to meet the needs and interests of the children.
Monitors student progress and updates academic records weekly using a computer-based program.
Maintains academic records and writes progress reports for the students, as well as, prepares for and leads, parent-teacher conferences, twice a year.
Attends and participates in school activities, including work week, faculty meetings, open houses, family picnics, professional development, and graduation ceremonies outside of the usual school day.
Establishes professional relationships with staff, working cooperatively to meet the needs of the children at all times.
Works collaboratively with the Lower Elementary classroom assistant, and team, mentoring and supporting their growth and understanding of the Montessori pedagogy, classroom expectations, and the needs of the child.

Qualifications
AMS/AMI certification required, (Lower Elementary: 6-9 years) *
o Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
o First Aid/CPR training or willing to obtain
*CMS is willing to train, at our expense, an experienced Elementary teacher (2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade) while employed at CMS, who would like to become Montessori certified.
