Cathcart Rail, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is a leading freight rail services and transportation company. We employ nearly 1,000 employees in more than 100 locations in 33 states and operate the largest railcar services network in the industry, encompassing 18 large railcar repair facilities and more than 75 field services locations in addition to a rail services division that operates three short line railroads and a dozen contract switching and transloading sites.

The general purpose of this position is to perform rail car movements per the switch list or as directed by supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Observes blue flag protection requirements and maintains derailer protection for work areas when a switch is complete.
• Performs user maintenance checks and fills out and submits appropriate checks list to the maintenance dept.
• Participates in nonconformance root cause investigations, corrective action and monitoring the adequacy of same in their area of responsibility and makes efforts for continuous improvement of quality and the elimination of nonconformance's.
• Follow all Cathcart Rail LLC rules, regulation and processes at all times
• Performs other duties as assigned

Candidates must have a safety mindset and enjoy hands-on work in year-round outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• Prior Switching experience preferred but not required
• Heavy Machine Operating experience a plus
• Ability to work outdoor in all weather conditions
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb and stoop for the entire shift
