Description Faculty member to provide instruction in assigned courses. Courses may be seated, synchronous, asynchronous, or hybrid. Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines. Must be willing to travel to high school locations and work with high school students. Serve on various campus committees and/or as an advisor for student organizations.
Teaching schedules may include day or evening depending on course offerings.
This is a full time, 9 month position. *Salary Commiserate with Education and Experience.

Examples of Duties Provide classroom instruction to students. Prepare for each learning experience; prepare, maintain, and update lesson plan; develop and prepare methods to evaluate student performance; assist in ordering supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons as appropriate.
Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; proctor tests; grade and record individual scores.
Provide individual assistance to students outside of the classroom as appropriate.
Participate in development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and/or courses.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain various records and databases according to program needs or accreditation requirements, and submit reports according to policy.
Maintain current knowledge in the appropriate academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs as appropriate.
Assist with and carry out, as required, the implementation of policies and procedures related to required instructional area.
Communicate clearly, conscientiously, and in a caring manner with students.
Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate a variety of textbooks, films, and videos; select books and other materials to be used for assigned instructional classes.
Maintain required office hours according to established policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Degree Requirements: Master's Degree required in business related field with at least 18 graduate hours completed in business/economics related coursework. All coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience: Community college teaching and distance learning teaching experience preferred. A minimum of 10 years of business experience with at least 5 years in a management position is preferred.
Knowledge of: - Classroom instructional techniques and procedures.
- Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment.
- Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping.
- Principles and techniques involved in curriculum and course development.
- Principles and techniques involved in test development.
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations, as appropriate.
Ability to: - Participate in instructional programs suited to the community.
- Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities.
- Participate in curriculum development.
- Interpret and apply college goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Maintain mental capacity which allows for effective interaction and communication with others.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Supplemental Information Must be a good team member and be willing to update skills as needed. Must be able to work effectively with diverse student populations. Educational philosophy must be compatible with the role of the community college and with best practices in education.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Copies of all unofficial degree transcripts, including coursework completed and degree conferred, must be provided during the on-line application process. Official transcripts are required to be forwarded to the CVCC Personnel Office upon hire.

Paid Leave Annual Leave: All Full-time, non-faculty employees earn from 10-25 days annually based on years of service and contract period.
Sick Leave: Full-time employees earn one day (8 hours) of sick leave per contract month. Sick leave from other NC State Agencies in the retirement system may be transferred to CVCC.
Institutional Holidays : In addition to the various types of leave, CVCC grants an established number of legal holidays to full-time, regular employees on an annual basis.
Health Care Health Insurance: 2 plans are available to full-time employees. Coverage is available, at current group rates, for spouse, child, or entire family.
Dental Insurance: Available to full-time employees and any eligible dependents at current group rates.
Vision Care: Coverage is available at current group rates, for employee and any eligible dependents.
Additional Coverage for Critical Illness, Cancer, Accident, Disability, etc: Optional supplemental coverage plans are available to employees who choose to participate.
Flexible Spending Accounts: most employees can opt for pre-tax flexible spending accounts which can be used to pay for out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision or dependent care expenses.
Disability Insurance Full-time employees are enrolled in the Disability Income Plan of North Carolina. This plan provides both
short-term and long-term disability income benefits. Further information regarding plan requirements and benefits may be obtained from the Retirement Benefits Manual (see the Disability Income Plan of North Carolina section).
Retirement NC Teacher's and State Employee's Retirement (TSER's): For employees assigned to work 20 hours per week or more, participation in this program is required. Employees contribute 6% of their salary, which is tax deferred. Vesting in the retirement system requires 5 years of membership.
Tax Deferred Programs: Tax-sheltering programs are available through IRS Code 125 (Cafeteria Plan), 401 (k) and 457 (Deferred Compensation).
Additional Benefits Longevity Pay: After 10 years of creditable service, employees, receive an annual longevity payment based on years of service and annual salary.
Life Insurance: After one year of service, a Death Benefit is provided by the Retirement System. Optional life insurance coverage is also available for both employee and dependents through payroll deduction.
Employee Assistance Program: It is the policy of CVCC to provide an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) as a benefit to assist employees with personal problems that may adversely affect job performance. CVCC provides coverage for the first five visits.
