Surgical practice is seeking a PRE-MEDICAL student in their gap year with interest in working in a surgical office and ambulatory surgery center for practical exposure in a medical environment.
CANDIDATE MUST BE PURSUING A HIGHER EDUCATION DEGREE OR BE IN A GAP YEAR PRIOR TO MEDICAL SCHOOL. MINIMUM OF BACHELOR'S DEGREE REQUIRED.
Duties include the following:
- Assist with consultations, exams, and in office procedures; prepare and clean exam rooms
- Assist in the operating room on surgery days (typically every Wednesday and some Tuesdays)
- Schedule, confirm and follow up with patients regarding treatment plan;
- Create and maintain patient charts; verify insurance and pre-certify procedures with insurance as necessary;
- Market to referral doctors by building a rapport with other doctors' offices;
- Participate in marketing activities outside of normal office hours as needed;
- Sell and book procedures and surgery;
- Contribute ideas and execute strategies to generate new patients;
- Participate in general office duties in coordination with the rest of the staff.
The office hours are 9am to 6pm.
