Learning Support Specialist
10 months Professional Salary Schedule Reports To: Director of Professional Learning
Definition: The role of the CFSD Learning Support Specialist (LSS) is to provide coaching, training, modeling, and assistance to support teachers participating in the Great Beginnings: Systems for Success teacher development program.

General Responsibilities:
Collaborate with other CFSD Learning Support Specialist(s) to:
plan and facilitate New Teacher Orientation.
welcome new teachers to the district prior to New Teacher Orientation to make initial personalized connections.
coordinate Teacher Leader support for new teachers at New Teacher Orientation.
coordinate, plan, and facilitate mentor training, and support the implementation of the mentor program.
monitor mentor support through collecting and maintaining data on each new teacher and their teaching demographics by assigned instructional coach.
plan and facilitate Collaborative Inquiry Teams, Professional Learning Seminars, Collegial Coaching, and Summer Institutes for teachers who are in Years 1-3 in the district.
Provide differentiated coaching support to new teachers and teachers who have moved grade levels and / or disciplines at all levels through:
implementing Cognitive Coaching, which includes classroom observations with pre- and post-conferences for planning and reflection.
conferencing with teachers to assist in classroom management, instructional strategies, and/or planning lessons.
Participate as a member of the district's Professional Learning Planning Team which includes:
evaluating the components and outcomes of the Great Beginnings program by collecting and analyzing data on teacher self-efficacy and instructional implementation and feedback from new teachers and site administrators.
refining components of the Great Beginnings program.
Collaborate with site administrators using a "dual coaching model" to identify the support each new teacher needs and how the Learning Support Specialist and administrators will provide that support.
Attend district level professional learning to support new teachers in the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices, standards for instructional coaching, and adult learning theory and practice.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, staff, administrators, parents, and others.
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board Policy.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Current, valid Arizona teacher certificate
A minimum of five years of classroom instruction
Demonstrated strong instructional skills
Skill in observing and analyzing classroom management, instructional strategies, and assessment practices
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
Strong background knowledge of current educational theory and practice
Strong organizational skill
Preferred Experience/Training:
Training in Cognitive Coaching, Differentiated Instruction, and the Understanding by Design framework
Knowledge and experience in instructional or collegial coaching
Educational or instructional leadership experience (team leader, mentor, curriculum or assessment design team member, Site Improvement Team member, etc.)
Experience designing and/or leading professional learning sessions
Conditions:
Extended contract hours for coaching and professional learning seminars
Extended certified calendar of 15 workdays for New Teacher Orientation, Summer Institutes, and other days as assigned
Certified non-teaching contract to include base salary with addenda for additional 15 work days
