Position: Data Systems and Digital Learning Coordinator

Reports To: Chief Technology Officer

Salary: (State Teacher Salary Scale if applicable)

Term of Employment: 12-month 

Data Systems: The Data Systems aspect of this role encompasses overseeing student information systems, with a primary focus on PowerSchool, as well as ensuring accurate management of various related accounts integral to district operations. These include student email accounts, Single-sign-on (NCEdCloud), Staff and Student UIDs, Staff NCID, Website directories, and other essential systems. As the district-level expert on PowerSchool, responsibilities involve providing comprehensive support to school data managers, including training, troubleshooting, data entry, analysis, and report generation. Additionally, duties include administering PowerSchool user security, managing student demographic data, facilitating transfers of student information between schools, and maintaining databases essential for auto-dialer operations interfacing with the student information system.

Digital Learning: The Digital Learning component of this role involves supporting teaching and learning technology resources and facilitating the integration of digital learning initiatives within the district. This includes providing support to school media specialists, instructional facilitators, teachers, and staff in utilizing online resources and learning management systems. The coordinator collaborates with stakeholders to implement digital learning resources and support schools in integrating digital learning platforms and applications such as CANVAS, Google Apps, and others. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the district-level expert on PowerSchool, supporting school data managers in data entry, analysis, and report generation.
  • Administer PowerSchool user security for district users and manage student demographic data, scheduling, academic progress, and disciplinary incident data.
  • Facilitate the transfer of student information between schools, including records requests, and maintain databases for auto-dialers interfacing with the student information system.
  • Manage Staff Directories and email systems.
  • Provide information and training to district and school staff on PowerSchool usage.
  • Collaborate with various departments to input, maintain, reconcile, and report data within the school system.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with school data managers to address processes, training needs, and district-level tasks.
  • Support all school data managers in PowerSchool processes, including scheduling courses, enrolling students, and generating reports.
  • Conduct district-level professional development sessions on PowerSchool procedures and integration of digital resources databases.
  • Support schools in implementing digital learning integration, 1:1 platforms, learning management systems, and other applications.
  • Participate in professional development activities and engage in professional learning communities to explore innovative practices for enhancing teaching and learning.
  • This person is also responsible for maintaining an active presence for the district across social media platforms such as Facebook, or any other platforms deemed appropriate. This involves creating engaging content, interacting with followers, and ensuring that the district's online presence aligns with its goals and values.

Qualifications:

  • A North Carolina Teaching License is required for eligibility to receive the NC state teacher salary. Candidates without a Teaching License may be considered for employment based on their experience and other qualifications.
  • PowerSchool Certification is preferred; however, candidates who do not currently hold this certification must obtain it within a specified time frame after hiring.

Minimum Experience:Two years of hands-on experience with PowerSchool or comparable Student Information Systems, involving data entry and management. Preferred: Demonstrated experience in integrating digital teaching and learning methods. Preferred: Two years of experience in leadership roles within digital learning, encompassing integration, implementation and support initiatives
