Castle Rock Medical Center is Hiring an EMS Instructor Near Green River, WY

Castle Rock Hospital District is looking for an As-Needed EMS Instructor to join the team. This position will be paid per class.

Summary of Job:

Works in close harmony with the EMS Director, CRHD leadership, and Human Resources to ensure that staff and community EMS classes are held regularly. The EMS Instructor is responsible for preparing, delivering didactic, and laboratory education that parallels the WWHCC, WY Office of EMS, and National Standards curriculum of all EMS courses.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Thorough knowledge and application of EMS skills and ability to teach said skills.
  • An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Leadership and public relations skills.
  • Communication and decision-making skills.
  • Organize, coordinate, teach and instruct EMS classes to employee(s) and patron(s) and assist them in achieving their certification.
  • Perform cleaning tasks after every class (such as cleaning equipment).
  • Be familiar with EMS courses and know how to use course materials effectively.
  • Adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants so they can meet course objectives.
  • Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards, and that materials and equipment are safe.
  • Cover all material required.
  • Ability to work closely with the Western Wyoming Healthcare Coalition (WWHCC) and the State of Wyoming EMS Office to make sure all classes, laboratory, clinicals and tests are handled properly and paperwork submitted in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the EMS education program.
  • Maintain a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums from rough draft or from verbal instructions; prepare copies of documents; distribute information.
  • Update and maintain files as requested by the director; assist with forms and collection of data as requested.
  • Demonstrate high-level professionalism
  • Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position.
  • Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities.
  • Complete records and reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required (associate degree preferred).
  • Graduate of an EMS Program.
  • Current EMT, NREMT, AEMT, IEMT or Paramedic credential.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification required.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
  • Must be able to recognize needs and be sensitive to others.
  • Must be able to exchange information with others clearly and concisely.
  • Receive guidance and supervision; follow CRHD policies and safety practices, work procedures; meet deadlines, punctuality and attendance standards.
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision using time management skills.
  • Ability to interact with the public and co-workers under circumstances which require the application of specific knowledge, tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
  • Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications.
  • Organized, detailed-oriented and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Evidence of a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience teaching (preferred).
  • Current instructor certifications for BLS/Heartsaver CPR, ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS (preferred).
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in EMS (preferred).
