ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE COUNSELING11-month position, starts July 15, 2024Castilleja School is a dynamic, diverse, and intentional educational community for students in grades 6–12 that believes in the power of women learning and women leading. The Associate Director of College Counseling will join an established, highly collaborative, student-centered team that includes the Director of College Counseling and Upper School Academic Policy and the Registrar/Assistant to College Counseling. The person in this position will enjoy working with high school students and providing support with all aspects of the college search and application process. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who values building trusting, supportive and successful relationships with students, alums, families, and colleagues, and who demonstrates strong cross-cultural competency and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.The Associate Director will write comprehensive letters of recommendation for students; support academic advising for grades 9-12; co-teach a comprehensive college counseling curriculum; co-lead supplemental college counseling programming for students who will be the first-generation to attend a four-year college; manage the office’s internal and external websites; facilitate student and parent/guardian use of MaiaLearning; support divisional and school-wide initiatives through faculty committee work; and will be a thought partner and leader with the Director of College Counseling to support all aspects of the college counseling program on campus while maintaining a strong connection to the larger college admission counseling profession. Successful candidates will lead with professionalism and a strong sense of integrity; appreciate and honor the student perspective while providing individualized guidance; be technologically savvy; and look forward to the joys and challenges of working at a school for girls that serves diverse, highly motivated, and high-achieving students. Optimism, humility, intellectual curiosity, and a good sense of humor are critical!Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in high school college counseling and/or selective college admission
  • Deep understanding of the selective college admission and financial aid landscapes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree, and Master’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Castilleja uses a competitive salary scale which takes into account range of experience, education, and skill level. The annual salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $135,000.
