Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Pipelayer to join our team. As a Pipelayer, you will be responsible for installing and repairing underground pipelines for various construction projects. This is a physically demanding role that requires experience in heavy equipment operation and knowledge of blueprint reading.
Duties:
- Operate heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, backhoes, and front loader trucks, to excavate trenches and prepare the site for pipeline installation
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine the layout and depth of pipelines
- Dig trenches using hand tools or heavy equipment to lay pipes according to specifications
- Align and position pipes in trenches, ensuring proper slope and alignment
- Connect pipes using various methods, such as welding or gluing
- Install pipe supports and backfill trenches to secure the pipes in place
- Test pipelines for leaks using pressure gauges and other specialized equipment
- Perform concrete finishing and forming tasks as needed
- Locate existing utilities to avoid damage during pipeline installation
Skills:
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, including bulldozers, backhoes, and front loader trucks
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately
- Experience in concrete finishing and forming is preferred
- Knowledge of utility locating techniques to avoid damage during pipeline installation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise during pipeline installation
