I. STATEMENT OF RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The qualified candidate is responsible for performing and supervising research projects in the field of immunity to Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Research will focus on studying the function of human T cell responses to tuberculosis using primary human cells from blood and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples of healthy individuals previously infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and HIV. Work includes performing experiments, data analysis, oral and written presentation of results, writing manuscripts for publication and grant proposals for funding from the main funding entities (NIH, NIAID). Candidates should be highly experienced in standard immunology research techniques and data analysis. Strongest consideration will be give to candidates with experience in bioinformatics anlysis of next-generation sequencing data (RNA / DNA sequencing and single-cell RNAseq).
The position provides an opportunity to make exciting discoveries and impact the fields of infectious disease and immunology, which includes performing experiments in a biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) lab, working with human cells, and sequencing data analysis.
