Description

This position is located in the Portland Metro area. The schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Job Overview

As a Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist at Cascadia Health, this position will be integral to our mental health care services. You will specialize in the use of psychopharmacology to treat mental health disorders, working closely with our team of healthcare professionals to deliver optimal medication management and patient care.

Essential Duties

  • Medication Therapy Management: Assess and manage psychiatric medication regimens, monitoring therapeutic outcomes and potential drug interactions.
  • Pharmacist Collaborative Drug Therapy Management of Clozapine: manage, modify, and monitor clozapine drug therapy, and provide education related to this therapy.
  • Long-Acting Injectable Management: create, monitor and manage program outlining standing orders for the late administration of all LAI-As to prevent missed doses or inefficiencies in this care.
  • Patient Education and Counseling: Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, ensuring understanding and adherence to treatment plans.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop integrated treatment plans.
  • Staff Education: Educate healthcare staff on psychiatric medications, emerging treatments, and best practices in psychopharmacology.
  • Participation in Research: Engage in research initiatives related to psychiatric pharmacotherapy and contribute to scholarly activities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards in the dispensing and handling of psychiatric medications.
  • Quality Improvement: Actively participate in quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing medication safety and treatment effectiveness in the field of psychiatry.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college or university.

Board Certification in Psychiatric Pharmacy (BCPP) required.

Valid and active pharmacist license in Oregon.

Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of clinical pharmacy experience required, preferably in psychiatry or mental health.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Comprehensive knowledge of psychotropic medications and mental health disorders.

Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.

Dedication to patient-centered and evidence-based care.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in our health centers, Monday to Friday during normal business hours. Daily routines will likely require the employee to perform various functions and on occasion perform the tasks of other employees as needed. Universal Precautions and remaining alert to the environment are critical to address the potential for violent behavior, exposure to disease, biohazards, noise, and contaminants.

Mental Demands:

The work may involve a degree of unpredictability and disruption of planned tasks requiring a flexible time management approach.

Physical Demands:

A typical workday consists of moving around and interacting with staff and clients. Sitting, standing, and typing on a keyboard may also occur.
