Position Summary
Cascades Academy seeks an Upper School Track & Field Assistant Coach for the spring 2024
season: February 26 - May 17, 2024. This position is responsible for assisting in coaching and
providing direction to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as
an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in track and field. Experience in
athletics and sports is preferred but not required.

Essential Duties Assist the upper school track & field team in having a positive experience during the

season.

Lead practice 5 days/week, 1.5 hours per practice. Exact times TBD.
Ensure a certified coach is present at all practices and meets.

Attend meets on weekends and weekdays as per the season schedule.
Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches,

officials, and the media.

Communicate with parents and athletes in writing and in person on a weekly basis when

applicable.

Work with the Athletic Director in facilitating practice and match schedules.
Work with the Head Coach to develop and implement appropriate training programs.
Arrange transportation for student-athletes.
Drive (or accompany) student-athletes on the team bus both to and from meets.
Adhere to all school policies in regard to the collection and disbursement of money,

expenses, and receipts.

Emphasize sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.
Maintain a safe environment and facilities for student-athletes at all times
Ensure that medical and safety requirements are adhered to.
Complete injury report for any student injured within 24 hours even if the student-athlete

does not see a physician.

Support the philosophy and vision of Cascades Academy by cultivating a supportive and

inclusive environment for all students and employees

Qualifications Successful applicant will be subject to criminal history background check and

fingerprinting

The assistant coach will need to drive student-athletes to meets in a small school bus

(no CDL required). Clean driving record and valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements Ability to participate in track & field practices with student-athletes.

Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
Must be able to consistently and clearly communicate with children, colleagues, and

families.
