    UNIVERSAL OBLIGATIONS/EXPECTATIONS OF EACH STAFF MEMBER
    It is the expectation of the District that each staff member will: (1) put the safety, health, and well-being of students at the forefront of all actions, job responsibilities and decisions, and (2) undertake all duties in alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Test coordination and assistance for K-12 state (MAST) and district testing (MAP)
    Student Meetings and small group meetings: Counsel individual students who are having problems in school. Discusses alternatives with students and advises in the selection of what seems to be the most desirable course of action.
    Academic Counseling 9th - 12th grades
    Facilitate and assist parent-teacher and student conferences
    Working with the Character Team and implementation of Character Education throughout the school.
    Advising, researching, and supporting students with completing scholarship applications.
    Suicide Prevention and partnering with outside resources in the implementation of proactive care and support.
    Connecting with staff on academic and Social Emotional Learning support. Supply information on referral sources within the community.
    Education and Career Planning: Educates students and parents regarding the necessary coursework required for graduation and assists those students who are showing signs of having educational difficulties.
    Serves as a reference source for current information on colleges, technical education, apprenticeships, armed services, and other educational programs and career opportunities.

    Facilitate and plan support groups and whole group lessons in Elementary 1-1/2 day a week. With a focus on the school’s core virtues.

    Working with our transition groups: 5th and 8th Grade as these groups of students transition to junior high and high school.
    Creating and collaborating with administration with the master schedule and student and class schedule.
    Student Diploma Audit x2
    Reviews and evaluates the academic progress of students and makes recommendations for modifications as appropriate.
    Consult with the teaching staff to facilitate counseling activities in the regular educational program.
    Consults with teachers, other educational staff, and parents regarding the developmental needs of students.
    Complies with Board policies, rules, regulations, and directives.
    Provides orientation to new students regarding the District’s educational opportunities and/or career paths.
    Only minimum duties are listed. Other functions may be required as given or assigned.
    DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Ability to obtain and maintain a Montana class 6 School Counselor Specialist License.
    Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with students, parents, and staff.
    Ability to handle stressful situations.
    Ability to maintain confidentiality of student matters.
    Ability to read and analyze general counseling periodicals and professional journals.
    Ability to solve problems in a practical and workable manner.
    Ability to use age-appropriate language and accompanying techniques in one-on-one settings as well as group settings.
    Contact will extend past the regular school schedule addition of 10 days.
    EQUIPMENT USED:
    Various electronic and technology devices, copy machines, and telephone/voice mail.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee is often required to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:
