The Our House Residential Care Facility (RCF) is a 14-room facility with a team of expert clinicians who work with people living with HIV who are having difficulty managing independent living. By tailoring nursing, social services, and therapeutic everyday activities our clients and residents are able to define what ‘living well’ means to them.

CAP and Our House is excited to announce that we are hiring an experienced Housekeeper. This position is responsible for maintaining the facility's general cleanliness and collaborating with the nursing team to ensure the cleanliness of resident rooms and areas by performing the following duties.

  • Cleaning the facility's interior, which involves dusting, cleaning counters and furniture surfaces, mopping or vacuuming floors, sanitizing sinks, toilets, and countertops, emptying trash and recycling containers, and organizing the areas.
  • Manages stocking an adequate inventory of cleaning materials and supplies for the building. Notifies the facilities manager of cleaning materials and building supplies that need to be ordered.
  • Maintains and manages the upkeep and repair of cleaning equipment, including vacuums and other equipment used for cleaning. 
  • Cleans the following specific areas as described in the essential duties: resident rooms; public and common residential areas of the facility, including the lobby, dining room, sitting room, resident living room, activities room, conference room, and elevator; resident tub room and shower room; administrative offices, kitchenette and public restrooms; laundry and dirty utility rooms.
  • Collaborates with the caregiver and communicates tasks needing follow-up.
  • Document tasks in the electronic charting system.
  • Reports all incidents and accidents involving residents to the nurse on duty.
  • Works as a team member with all staff, residents, and volunteers.
  • Re-stocks supplies in the bathroom and other public areas. Communicates ordering needs to supervisor.
  • Collaborates with the Our House Programs Assistant in maintaining the Safety Data Sheets for the chemicals used in the housekeeping department per OSHA requirements.
  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

NOTE: This is a non-management, union-represented position. The compensation, benefits, and conditions of work for this position are collectively bargained. This position is stationed in CAP’s Our House office. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

COMPENSATION: $21.04 an hour

Successful candidates will have:

  • Ability to pass DHS background check to work in a Residential Care Facility
  • Basic computer skills.
  • High school diploma, GED, or 3 years of experience. Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to the safety or health of employees or others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 18 years old

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous housekeeping experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of cleaning supplies, including their cleaning capacities, germicidal capabilities, and safety risks.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships across a multicultural spectrum of organizations and professionals, including community partners and funders.
  • Successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic, and sexually diverse populations and persons who have experienced houselessness, persons with a mental illness and/or substance use issues.
  • A strong understanding of issues relevant to people living with HIV, communities of color, and the LBGTQ community and how those issues affect or influence service delivery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace or community settings.
  • Desire and ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to: engaging in training workshops, team and department meetings, and critical discussions for how CAP can better support the communities that we serve.
  • Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and/or people with disabilities, chronic illness, and/or other barriers to employment.
  • Lived experience of systemic oppression and non-dominant cultures. We encourage applications from Black, Indigenous, and other people of color; transgender, non-binary, and other LGBTQ people; and people with disabilities, including HIV.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:

CAP is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.

Any non-temporary full-time or part-time employee (working .5FTE or greater) is considered eligible for the benefits. Benefits may be adjusted based on FTE or hours worked. The below benefits are for 1.0 FTE or 40 hours a week.

Vacation Leave Other

  • 16 days of paid vacation (128 hours) each year for the first two years of employment
  • 21 days of paid vacation (168 hours) each year of employment beginning in year three
  • 12 days of paid health leave per year
  • 12.4 paid holidays per year
  • Longevity bonus – two weeks of paid leave on the fourth anniversary, must be used within two years after the date awarded. Additional longevity bonuses are awarded at eight-year and 12-year anniversaries.
