Casazul is Hiring a Bilingual Forest Preschool Teacher Near Portland, OR

Casazul is a bilingual English/Spanish forest kindergarten whose mission is to promote well-being in children and families through nature immersion, nature-based early learning curriculum, second language immersion, and health-promoting family services. The teacher will help facilitate all activities within the forest kindergarten for children aged 3-6. The teacher must be comfortable being outside in all weather, as we will only be inside under extreme weather conditions. Furthermore, the teacher must be fluent in Spanish and proficient in English, have experience or demonstrated interest in nature-based education, a love for and familiarity with bilingual learning, and an interest in helping to grow a new program. Working hours are 8:30-1:30, Tuesday and Thursday, with the possibility of additional hours on these days if families show interest in after care.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

-Co-creating and maintaining a consistent daily rhythm for children ages 3-6

-Co-creating nature-based curriculum including nature science, art, movement and story-telling, songs and game

- Facilitating food preparation with the children and supervising meal and snack times

-Teaching basic homesteading skills

-Managing emotional, social and physical needs of up to 8 children

- Communicating with parents through email, flyers, regularly scheduled meetings, and at pick-up and drop-off times

-Attending weekly staff meetings

-Leading educational workshops for parents and/or siblings

-Maintaining the school space, and working with the other staff to grow, tweak, and successfully teach the curriculum.

Qualifications - Spanish fluency, English proficiency

-Minimum two years combined work/study experience in early childhood, with at least one year of direct experience

- Minimum six months experience working or volunteering in an outdoor setting, with other demonstrated outdoor experience or knowledge

-Training in First Aid and CPR

- Enrollment in Oregon Department of Early Education Criminal Background Registry

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $1,500.00 per month

Expected hours: 12 – 20 per week
