POSITION: Social Worker - School Safety Program

LOCATION: Casa Grande Union High School

REPORTS TO: Principal and Fedral Programs Director

JOB GOAL:

  • To assist the Principal in providing a comprehensive, developmental, prevention and intervention program for high school students. The social worker works with students, parents and school staff to improve conditions on campus through the use of data and research-based practices. with providing guidance and support to students who display at-risk behaviors and to reduce lost instructional time due to behavior related issues. Support parents in increasing positive discipline strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to be successful:

  • Master’s degree in social work required.
  • Valid Standard School Social Worker Certificate required, (or meets requirement to obtain school social worker, prek-12 certificate). https://www.azed.gov/wellness/sspcertification
  • Certified Substance Abuse Counseling preferred.
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in working with high school students.
  • Experience working with community programs.
  • Experience in youth prevention and intervention.
  • Experience as a support group facilitator or leader.
  • Highly organized with good systems for record keeping and record retrieval.
  • Bi-lingual PREFERRED.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to use constructive techniques to resolve issues.
  • Solid communication skills with students and adults.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates organizational ability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists with the implementation of staff training, parent education, diversion program and community programming.
  • Assists with Leadership Team.
  • Provides responsive services to students and families that may include assessment, individual short term or crisis intervention, at risk student small groups, home visitations, case management and advocacy.
  • Interacts and communicates with school personnel, parents and the community to support student achievement and program success.
  • Networks with community agencies to provide mental health intervention referrals for at-risk students.
  • Refers students, in consultation with their parents, to appropriate community resources.
  • Adheres to legal, ethical, and professional standards.
  • Coordinates, conducts or participates in other activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school and district.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify students in need of intervention
  • Maintain documentation of student progress collaboratively with classroom teacher
  • Develop and deliver learning experiences for parents in positive behavior techniques
  • Work directly with students at-risk and their parents to modify behaviors to reach successful outcomes
  • Build effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open house, conferences, extra-curricular activities.
  • Work flexible schedule for before or afterschool supports as needed
  • Coordinates and attends all necessary meetings.
  • Works closely with Site Principal in meeting the needs of Federal, State and local reports and requirements.
  • Perform other tasks, duties, or services consistent with this position as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Certified Calendar
  • Placement on Exempt-Related Services salary schedule dependent on education and experience.
  • 15 additional days
  • This is a contracted position paid by grant funding for three years.
  • Must pass Department of Public Safety Fingerprint clearance check.
  • Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain. All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa, (if necessary), will be needed for fingerprint clearance card and I-9 documentation prior to first day of work.

EVALUATION:

  • Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:

  • Proof of Mumps, Measles and Rubella, (MMR) vaccination.
  • Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
  • Unofficial copies of transcripts will be accepted with applications, official transcripts will be due upon job offer*

* Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation, (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, (NACES). Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.
