The job of Education Specialist - KinderPlus is done for the purpose/s of providing quality care for children in Kindergarten.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 60% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Arranges the environment; responsible for creating written activity/lesson plans and responsible for implementing the same; assists in documenting students' progress for standards-based report cards; assumes tasks assigned by the principal or designee; attends required staff meetings; communicates with parents in a positive and effective manner, acknowledging and greeting parents, visitors, and children when they arrive and depart; documents communications, phone messages, written correspondence, parental requests and concerns; facilitates children's activities in various areas, e.g. physical, social, emotional, and cognitive, etc; maintains a clean and organized environment; maintains effective supervision of children; maintains on-going communication with the Kindergarten teachers and other staff members; participates in children's activities; provides an atmosphere where children are safe and feel nurtured and valued; uses appropriate and positive discipline and communication techniques with children; monitors supplies and maintenance needs of the facility; uses appropriate and positive discipline techniques with children; assists other personnel as may be required.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; Pre-employment proficiency test; Criminal justice/fingerprint clearance; Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English.

This is a 10 month School Year position only.
