Overview:
Seeking an enthusiastic team player who is interested in learning all functional areas of the office. This person will serve primarily as an optical lab assistant with the ability to float to other areas (front desk and optometric technician) as needed for fill in. Ideally, this person would enjoy variety in their duties, love interacting with patients and be a team player. We will train the right person on the job, but would give preference to someone with relevant experience. Hours are guaranteed 3 days a week, but would often increase as office needs may vary.
We are a growing two doctor practice looking for a self-motivated, customer service superstart to join our fantastic team. We prioritize A customer service and have a highly skilled team of professionals for you to join!
Optical Duties:
- Responsible for quality control of glasses received from optical lab including verifying jobs were made correctly and reviewing invoices
- Assist patients with frame styling
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs
Optical Technician Duties:
- Assist optometrists in performing various diagnostic tests and procedures
- Obtain and record patient medical history, including allergies and medications
- Conduct preliminary testing such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and organized
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and order as needed
- Assist with contact lens fittings and teach patients proper insertion and removal techniques
Optical Front Desk Duties
- Handle medical billing tasks, including verifying insurance coverage and processing payments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic medical record systems
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and protocols
Experience:
- Previous experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology setting is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures
- Familiarity with medical billing processes and insurance verification
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record patient information
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and patient care
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems
