About the team and position

Join Carvana's Regulatory Operations Support team in the role of Compliance Specialist, Dealer Compliance Team. As a Compliance Specialist within Carvana's Regulatory Operation Support team, you'll assist in the development and implementation of our internal audit programs as it relates to Dealer Licenses, to assess and evaluate risk and provide process improvement opportunities. This is a hands-on position that will work closely in partnership with local Carvana leadership to ensure compliance with local rules and regulations.

What you'll be doing

  • Assume the role as the Illinois dealer compliance expert.
  • Serve as the Illinois resident on the Dealer Licenses.
  • Identify, research, evaluate and analyze facts related to various Carvana Dealer Licenses, and any other Licenses that may be required. Provide and/or present findings in a digestible format to the Compliance Team members as well as business partners/stakeholders, as applicable.
  • Assist with the process and perform assessments and internal audits for Carvana markets to ensure our operations are compliant from a legal standpoint.
  • Provide assessments and audit results to market leaders and other stakeholders. Furthermore, propose detailed action plans and work collaboratively with the local leaders.
  • Proactively monitor, and consistently learn and remain up to date on auto industry dealer compliance policies and standards.
  • Participate in available education opportunities with the state, automobile associations etc.
  • Establish strong collaboration with the local team, demonstrating positive feedback and effective communication.
  • Continuous operational visibility to ensure compliance strategies align with state regulations and company policies.
  • Utilize a project management platform to track projects/tasks for accountability.
  • Monitor retail sales reporting tools to ensure compliance with state regulations and company policies.
  • Analyze and track regulation/compliance trends across markets and teams to identify commonalities.
  • Create and foster a culture of compliance awareness within Carvana and emphasize the importance to stakeholders.
  • Create and conduct Dealer Market Compliance training.
  • Prepare a variety of written correspondence and documents.
  • Support other states as business needs arise.
  • Other duties as assigned

What you should know

  • Proven experience in compliance, with a preference for backgrounds in the automotive industry and knowledge of the Illinois regulatory environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure all aspects of the department are meeting legal standards.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with different teams and stakeholders.
  • Must be a strong independent self-starter.
  • Ability to prioritize/re-prioritize multiple projects and/or deadlines in a fast-paced and constantly shifting work environment on short notice.
  • Enthusiasm and energy to contribute to and thrive in a rapidly growing department where roles continually adapt as the company evolves.
  • Appetite for self-initiation to pre-emptively research issues on the company's horizon.
  • Strong background in problem-solving and continuous improvement processes.
  • Strong organizational, auditing and communication skills.
  • Lover of dashboards, data, and metrics.
  • Comfortable using Google Suite.

We'd love it if you also had

  • Prior regulatory licensing experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience using Wrike.
