Cartography Biosciences is Hiring a Lab Animal Technician (Research Associate/Senior Research Associate) Near South San Francisco, CA

Cartography Biosciences is a therapeutics organization creating the first atlas to identify targets that are specific enough to only engage cancerous cells, broad enough to work across cancer cells and patients, and safe enough to sidestep toxic side effects. Founded by Kevin Parker, Howard Chang, and Ansu Satpathy, Cartography is bridging immunology and computation to understand the critical differences between normal and cancerous cells, ultimately solving the challenge of finding the safest, most selective targets for a variety of immunotherapeutic approaches. 

As part of the pharmacology team, the lab animal technician will assist scientists in running

preclinical in vivo studies in mice. Under general direction, the lab animal technician will assist in

a variety of tasks following established techniques and procedures. Assist in study execution;

collects samples from and administers agents to research animals as IACUC approved studies

require. We are seeking someone that is hardworking, shows attention to detail with a positive

attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare animals for study initiation.
  • Ability to draw blood, injection of compounds and drugs via various routes (IV, IP, IM, ID, SC)
  • Tumor measurements, data collection, anesthesia, post-op care, euthanasia, and tissue collection
  • Documents laboratory work to acceptable standards
  • May require work on the weekends (infrequent)
Qualifications
  • B.S. in either animal science or similar discipline
  • 1-3 years related work experience required in a laboratory animal facility
  • Familiarity with animal protocols, regulations, and ability to comply with IACUC requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage details accurately
  • Successful proven record of written and oral communication skills sufficient to permit clear and effective exchange of information
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, web browser, and database software to record and report activities
  • Demonstrated team player with professional, positive attitude and willingness to be flexible

$82,000 - $100,000 a year
This posting represents various levels – Research Associate to Senior Research Associate. As such the starting range of $82,000 - $100,000 encompasses all roles. Level and commensurate salary will be based on the candidate's unique skill set, education, and experience, while taking into consideration internal equity.
