DOL Services Specialist Advanced (Employment Services Specialist 2) 

Job Code: SSP091

Pay Grade: G

 

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for a DOL Services Advanced position in the Cartersville Career Center in Cartersville, GA.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts interviews unemployment applicants to obtain the information needed to provide services.
  • Conducts Wage Investigations and Request of Out of State Wages to ensure claim is valid.

  • Review, examine, investigate, and adjudicate unemployment claims to determine claimant Unemployment eligibility of benefits

  • Performs job counseling with applicants to identify their abilities, needs, interests, and values in relation to job and career opportunities.

  • Conducts hearings in a professional and courteous manner

  • Uses proper interviewing techniques in order to obtain appropriate information.

  • Conducts fact finding interviews within established time frames and in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines.

  • Identifies, documents and resolves separation and availability issues

  • Issues proper instructions to claimant regarding unemployment responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive overall understanding of state law and departmental procedure for the dissemination of information as related to program.

  • Communicates law and procedures clearly, correctly, and understandably to employers

  • Accurately answers claimants' questions relative to program eligibility and explains the appeal process

  • Processes claims from the universal queue

  • Assists customers in-person and/or by phone with unemployment related issues and questions

  • Provides one on one assistance with claims filing process

  • Submits all claims related documents to imaging system

  • Refers applicants to services such as counseling, literacy or language instruction, transportation assistance, and childcare

  •  May function as a lead worker

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) year processing Unemployment Insurance claims

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience OR High school diploma or GED AND Three years of related experience.
