Carteret Health Care is Hiring an Environmental Services Student Externship Near Morehead, NC

JOB RELATIONSHIPS
- Responsible to the Director of Outreach and School Relations. The Department Director of the area you have been assigned.
DEFINITION OF POSITION
The Summer Externship Opportunities for College Students program is designed to provide students with practical work experience and exposure to real-world professional environments during the summer months. Students will have the opportunity to work with professionals in their field of study and gain valuable skills and knowledge that will enhance their academic and career pursuits. Environmental Services extern will report directly to the Environmental Services Director. This role provides the unique opportunity to observe in all areas of the hospital due to the wide scope of duties. Tasks may include but are not limited to housekeeping duties, discharge cleaning, patient room and communal area cleaning, supply distribution and stocking, dust/mop floors, clean hand rails, and visiting patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional
  - Must be 18 years old and currently enrolled as a college student pursuing a degree in a relevant field or a high school graduate/program graduate with a career interest in healthcare or relevant field.
  - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  - Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  - Eagerness to learn and willingness to take on new challenges.
  - Professional demeanor and a positive attitude.
  - Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software or tools.
  - Availability to work during the specified summer timeframe of 8-12 weeks with a minimum of 12 hours a week but can choose to work up to 36 hours a week if approved by the department.
