Job Description : Driving Range Instructor

Department: Safety Job Status: Full-Time Reports to: Training Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

To ensure that all new driver candidates are given a fair skills evaluation upon arrival at Carter Express. Ensure that adequate training is given to support Carter’s overall training goal of developing safe, quality, and efficient professional drivers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Train and monitor the performance of all assigned trainees.

2. Evaluate student driver’s skill level prior to local trainer assignment and make appropriate recommendations.

3. Evaluate student driver’s skill level upon completion of over the road training and make appropriate recommendations.

4. Assist with post-accident range training as needed.

5. Maintain all physical aspects of the range to ensure an adequate instructional course at all times.

6. Maintain a positive attitude of encouragement on the range at all times.

7. Completes road exams for orientation drivers, graduating trainee and post-accidents.

8. Manage the utilization of the training simulator.

9. Conduct classroom training of various topics as related to the finishing program.

10. Monitor and maintain the personal property cage.

11. Make local pickups and deliveries for the safety dept.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS:

· Commercial Driver’s License

· Good communication skills

· Professional appearance

· Knowledge of FMCSR and company policies/guidelines

· Positive professional attitude towards Carter Express and the industry

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook email required. Must have the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is an office position within our maintenance facility. You will have access to our maintenance facility as well as our cross-dock thus will need to follow all correct and proper PPE requirements set for entering these areas. Such as but not limited to, wearing a reflective vest, shirt, or jacket, and steel toe shoes or shoe coverings.
