Carter G. Woodson School is Hiring a Teacher Assistant Near Salem, NC
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide support to the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans, managing classroom activities, and ensuring a positive learning environment for students. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with classroom instruction, student supervision, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents.
Responsibilities:
- Support the lead teacher in delivering lesson plans and instructional materials
- Assist with classroom activities, including group work, projects, and assignments
- Provide individual attention to students, offering guidance and support as needed
- Help maintain classroom order and discipline, promoting a positive learning environment
- Supervise students during lunchtime, recess, and other non-instructional periods
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to assess student progress and provide feedback
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as grading, record-keeping, and lesson preparation
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in education or related field is a plus
- Proven experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work well with diverse student populations
- Knowledge of educational principles and teaching methods
- Ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively with the lead teacher
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- CPR and first aid certification is preferred
