Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
Carrollton Regional Medical Center – Carrollton, TX 75010
This is a 7on/7off, day-shift position with 10-hour shifts working 0500-1530. Work 70hr/pay period and get paid for 80hr. 26 weeks off each year.
The Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist in providing pharmacy services, inventory management and completing pharmacy duties in accordance with state or federal Pharmacy laws. The incumbent will provide professional, courteous, and efficient customer service to Pharmacy customers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
2. Prior inpatient technician experience highly preferred
3. Current Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration.
4. Current IV Certification through an ACPE-approved program is required
JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Performs limited pharmacy services and duties associated with the stocking, preparation, labeling, dispensing and delivery of medications, including sterile admixtures and prepackaged or unit dose drugs under the close supervision of a pharmacist.
2. Assists in filling, preparing and delivery of medications
3. Packages and labels medications appropriately
4. Compounds medications
5. Compounds or admixes ingredients appropriately under the supervision of the pharmacist
6. Compounds extemporaneous medications for dispensing, cart fill and sterile preparation
7. Determines the appropriate formula for drug to be compounded, and weighs and accurately measures needed amounts
8. Prepares IV admixtures using aseptic techniques and in compliance with accepted regulatory standards
9. Performs designated tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, inventory control and preparation of order for drugs
10. Assists in maintaining pharmacy drug stock by regularly checking for products that are outdated and/or low in inventory level
11. Assists with the essential functions related to drug purchasing and inventory control in an appropriate manner (ex. Ordering/receiving of medications and supplies)
12. Labels and stocks shelves
13. Stores IV's and supplies appropriately
14. Monitors/checks appropriate storage of drugs
15. Maintains automated dispensing inventories
16. Communicates immediately with all appropriate staff members when inventory levels are low
17. Processes orders for stock medication from units or clinic areas to ensure good pharmacy service is provided
18. Helps patients and medical staff with nonjudgmental questions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
19. Supports pharmacy staff as requested. Creates and maintains medication records
20. Responsible for charges and credits of medications
21. Answers phone and directs calls appropriately
22. Maintains a clean pharmacy. Assist in maintenance of Quality Assurance Indicators
23. Resolves discrepancies, troubleshoots, and runs reports from the automated dispensing machine (ADM)
24. May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
