Carrollton Farmers Branch Independent School District is Hiring an IPM Technician Near Carrollton, TX

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist with Pest control duties as needed to maintain school district buildings, kitchens, grounds, etc. includes applications of pest, weeds, termites, trapping live animals such as skunks, raccoons, etc. as well as rodent snap traps.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Driving record that meets the requirements of the district’s insurance carrier

Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge in pest and herbicide application
General knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
General knowledge of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
Ability to understand oral and written instructions

Previous Experience:
Minimum of one year experience in general maintenance

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintenance and Repair

Demonstrate acceptable work habits including teamwork, initiative and dependability.

Make various repairs to windows and doors – exclusion (IPM)

Repair and adjust door closures and sweeps – exclusion (IPM).

Assist with preventive maintenance exclusion for pest access.

Work from a prioritized list of needed structural and landscape improvements.

Ensure that all pesticides used on school district property are in compliance with the school district’s policies and keep current pesticide labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Handling ALL requests and inquiries relating to pest problems and maintain records of any pesticide related complaints.

Maintaining a copy of the school’s IPM policy.

Assist in preparation of estimates for budget of pest control needs and/or pesticides.

Perform other duties as they arise from necessity and/or changes in State or Federal Law.

Safety

Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.

Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Ladders up to 12’ tall; Drills; Sprayers; 4-Wheeler; Live snap traps

WORKING CONDITIONS
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving, Frequent bending and stooping. Frequent light lifting (Up to 25 pounds)

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
