We have an immediate need for an Engineering Designer (remote)

About the role

The Engineering Designer is a key position reporting to a Manager of Engineering or Operations. As an Engineering Designer at NORESCO, you’ll work with our internal project teams to create engineering designs that will achieve the energy savings guarantees and functional performance specified by our customers. This is an opportunity to observe your design work as it is constructed and becomes part of a successful energy conservation measure.

You will join a team of several dozen design engineers in an engineering-centric organization, NORESCO has over 150 in-house engineers from nearly every discipline. Our project teams include representatives from multiple departments; Development, Analysis, Construction, Engineering, M&V, Commissioning, and O&M. Engineering Designers are typically engaged with multiple projects from initial development through construction and occasionally support the transition into operations. This is a flexible position with many opportunities to collaborate in a cross functional environment with other project team members to gain experience and refine skills across the energy business.

Key Responsibilities

• The Engineering Designer supports a collaborative Design/Build process that leverages NORESCO technical expertise with external engineering, vendors, and subcontractor partners.
• Support the engineering process as required throughout the project lifecycle, from development through turnover, including: site investigations, data collection, 3D scanning/imaging, preparation of design documents (schematics, equipment layouts, renderings, preliminary drawings, phasing plans etc.), and modeling of existing or modified conditions.
• Participate in design review meetings, presentations & charrettes. Track design submissions, customer comments, and provide progress updates during project team meetings. 
• Ensure project scope elements are accurately designed, documented, reviewed, and distributed to the project team for use during construction. 
• Support project pricing effort in partnership with NORESCO Construction department; Final bid packages, subcontractor qualification, subcontractor bid-walks, use of third-party consultants, bid reviews, value engineering, evaluation of life cycle, and long-term service agreements, etc.
• Support project teams on site during construction, commissioning, and testing to resolve design issues, document as-built conditions, and ensure performance objectives are met.
• Anticipated travel 20- 35%.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of Mechanical or Electrical Project and/or Drafting/Design working experience.
• Technical Degree in an Engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• High-level communication, leadership, engineering, and project management skills.
• Strong sense of ownership, understands the importance of maintaining project schedules, resolving issues promptly, and consistently meeting deadlines and commitments.
• Knowledge of one or more facets of engineering: design principles, technologies, system modeling, applicable codes, design guides, standards, etc.
• Experience with current modeling software; Revit, SolidWorks, or similar.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.
• Commercial and/or Industrial construction or construction management.
• The ability to operate in a team environment and work closely with Senior Design Engineers and Engineering Managers to develop design concepts and design drawings for various measures.
• Desire to build and maintain respectful and inclusive working relationships with individual project team members to foster an environment of cooperation and productivity.
