Company Overview:

We are the leading wholesale distributor of food and restaurant supplies. We seek a strategic and visionary Director of Logistics to join our West Coast executive team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in logistics strategy, successful management of RFP processes, and deep experience in the domestic market, P&Ls and distribution center operations.

Position Overview:

As the Director of Logistics, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the logistics strategy for our West Coast Division. The successful candidate will oversee the entire logistics function, manage RFP processes, and provide strategic leadership to ensure the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our supply chain within the domestic market. This position requires additional expertise in 3PL and distribution center operations, a keen understanding of strategic planning, and the ability to optimize supply chain processes. Must have experience with successful management, RFP processes, experience in the domestic market, P&Ls and distribution center operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Logistics Strategy: Develop and execute strategic initiatives to optimize the logistics network, focusing on efficiency and reducing transportation costs in the domestic market.
  2. RFP Management: Lead the end-to-end management of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  3. Cost Management: Analyze logistics costs, identify opportunities for cost reduction, and implement strategies to improve overall cost-effectiveness.
  4. Carrier Relations: Manage relationships with transportation partners, negotiating favorable terms, optimizing routes, and ensuring a high level of service.
  5. Risk Management: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for transportation, inventory, and overall supply chain resilience.
  6. Team Leadership: Oversee and inspire a high-performing logistics team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement in 3PL and Distribution center operations.
  7. Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement logistics technology solutions to improve visibility, traceability, and overall supply chain efficiency.
  8. Performance Analytics: Utilize data analytics to measure and analyze logistics performance, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  9. Supply Chain Optimization: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement logistics strategies that align with overall business goals, emphasizing 3PL and distribution center optimization.
  10. 3PL and Distribution Centers: Utilize expertise in 3PL and distribution center operations to optimize storage, handling, and transportation processes.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is required. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics, RFP management, domestic market expertise, team leadership, and proficiency in 3PL and Distribution center operation is also required.
  • Proven success in managing the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and negotiating contracts with transportation partners.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with logistics providers.
  • Familiarity with logistics technology solutions and their integration into supply chain processes.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Visionary leadership with the ability to drive innovation and change in a dynamic industry.
  • Experience in running a 3PL facility or Distribution center.
