We are seeking a skilled Concrete Finisher to join our construction team. As a Concrete Finisher, you will be responsible for applying finishing touches to concrete surfaces, ensuring they are smooth, level, and visually appealing. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work with various hand tools and equipment.
Some of the duties:
- Prepare concrete surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and smoothing them
- Set up forms and ensure they are properly aligned
- Pour concrete into forms and spread it evenly using hand tools
- Use trowels, screeds, and floats to finish the surface and create desired textures
- Apply sealants or coatings to protect the concrete from weathering
- Repair damaged or cracked concrete surfaces
- Operate heavy equipment such as concrete pumps or mixers when necessary
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean work area
Skills Needed
To excel in this role, you should have the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of masonry techniques and materials
- Proficiency in using carpentry tools for formwork construction
- Experience with various hand tools used in concrete finishing
- Familiarity with concrete pumping systems and their operation
- Commercial driving experience for transporting equipment or materials
- Construction estimating skills for determining material quantities and project timelines
- Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting equipment issues
- Ability to plaster or apply decorative finishes to concrete surfaces
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as excavators or loaders (preferred)
- Knowledge of flooring installation techniques (preferred)
