CaroMont Health is Hiring a Public Safety Officer I (unarmed) Near Gastonia, NC

Job Summary: Identify and correct security risks and safety hazards to provide a secure and safe environment for patients, employees and visitors. Conduct patrols of hospital and grounds, affiliated practices, and departments outside of the hospital and take appropriate actions to help prevent fire, theft, accidents, visitor confusion, disturbances or other undesirable conditions.Respond to calls for assistance from employees, patients, visitors and physicians and provide appropriate assistance promptly.Provide battery boosts, auto unlocks, tire inflations, escorts, door unlocks and any other service as directed by the supervisor.Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Anticipate customers’ needs and respond appropriately.Use excellent customer service skills.Utilize de-escalation skills in aggressive situations. Appropriately use resources. Maintain accurate records for report writing, patient valuables, and morgue duties.

Qualifications: Completion of high school or equivalent required. At least one year of related experience or Associate's degree in Criminal Justice required. . A valid driver’s license and good driving record. Basic understanding of OSHA and NFPA Standards. Good ability to think and work effectively under stress and in emergencies. The ability to deal tactfully with patients, visitors, and hospital employees in diverse situations. Proper use of English grammar in verbal and written communications to accurately and thoroughly document Safety and Security incidents in a timely manner. Must pass CPI, IAHSS Basic Certification, & BLS within 12 months of hire to remain a full-time officer. HazMat Certification preferred.
