As the Digital Content Specialist , you will apply your creativity and exceptional writing skills to manage Carollo's content and digital footprint across multiple platforms, including Carollo's external website, social media, email channels, video channels, and more. Reporting to the Communications Director, you will develop engaging content that supports Carollo's business goals and strategic initiatives, promotes Carollo's projects and brand, and increases awareness of the company's service offerings and key differentiators. You will also help manage internal tools for employee communication.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researches and proposes short- and long-term digital content strategies.

  • Identifies opportunities to promote strategic services and messages for multiple audiences, regions, and communications channels, including but not limited to web, podcasts, webinars, social media, videos, blogs, and more.

  • Curates, writes, proofreads, and edits original and compelling content that supports business objectives and resonates with target audiences.

  • Makes edits/revisions to AI-generated content when necessary.

  • Evaluates requests for featured content and prioritizes compelling content that furthers Carollo's strategic initiatives.

  • Maintains an editorial calendar and collaborates with colleagues to ensure campaigns are coordinated across channels.

  • Ensures technical accuracy and clarity of content.

  • Builds relationships with internal experts and stakeholders.

  • Develops and maintains a fundamental understanding of Carollo's strategic initiatives, markets, service lines, and differentiators. Stays abreast of the latest news and events taking place across the company,

  • Develops and maintains a high-level understanding of the water sector, including its various segments, technologies, and trends.

  • Interfaces with Carollo's creative agency on digital assets and campaigns.

Website Management

  • Prepares content for web, including writing headlines and subheadings, editing copy, and identifying and formatting photos per website specifications.

  • Creates and edits web pages in content management system.

  • Applies SEO best practices when developing content.

  • Audits web content on a regular basis and coordinates with subject matter experts to provide updates.

  • Assists with maintenance of company intranet homepage.

Social Media

  • Increases Carollo's visibility and audience engagement across social platforms.

  • Maintains a content calendar.

  • Schedules and manages all social content using a content management system.

  • Prepares social media content, including writing copy and working with a designer for graphics.

  • Suggests and maintains a repository of evergreen content to be used for marketing company initiatives.

  • Maintains an ongoing understanding of trends and best practices across social platforms.

Video / Podcasts / Webinars

  • Identifies opportunities for using video to enhance other marketing initiatives.

  • Works with the team to coordinate strategies for developing, disseminating, and marketing digital video content. Supports Carollo staff in the preparation, marketing, scheduling, and production of virtual webinars, presentations, and workshops using MS Teams, Zoom, and other virtual event tools.

  • Researches and maintains a fundamental understanding of best practices for digital video marketing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a closely related field.

  • 5-10 years of related experience in digital communications, online communications, or online journalism.

  • Knowledge and experience with content marketing, SEO, blogging, and social media best practices.

  • Sufficient knowledge of web design, web programming, and content management systems, including understanding of technical aspects of web applications and functionality.

  • Experience with common CMS platforms; experience with WordPress a plus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).

  • Strong writing skills, with demonstrated ability to synthesize information from subject matter experts and leadership and make decisions about how to present this information.

  • Ability to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional websites that provide web content consistent with the organization's message.

  • Understanding of the fundamentals of user interface and user experience.

  • Excellent and proactive research skills.

  • Effective organizational, time management, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments, work collaboratively with others, and adjust schedules based on changing requirements.

  • Stays current with emerging and state-of-the-art technical and other web-related equipment, requirements, and developments (for example, accessibility issues).

  • Ability to meet deadlines. Strong performance accountability orientation, both in terms of following through on commitments and deadlines.

  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in computer applications for image handling, publishing, design, and video editing (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro).

  • Experience with WordPress and HootSuite.

  • Experience in U.S. municipal market or environmental technologies sector.

  • Ability to achieve a basic level of understanding of scientific and industry-specific concepts through a combination of independent research and guidance from subject matter experts.

  • Confidence and ability to conduct interviews with subject matter experts to obtain necessary information.

  • Understanding of audience personas.

  • Possesses excellent AI generation skills.

  • Has an eye for design, layout, and formatting.

Pay Range

$70,000 to $85,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
