Caroline County, VA is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician Near Bowling Green, VA

Job Description
Performs routine tasks to maintain and care for county buildings, facilities, grounds and 911 street signs. Job Responsibilities
Performs as a helper to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other related repairs to County facilities
Perform quarterly inspection of all street signs within the County
Install and maintain 911 street signs
Diagnosis and perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on the County buildings and grounds, including but not limited to carpentry, lighting, roofing, painting, plumbing and related tasks
Assist and make repairs to equipment
Trim, top and remove trees, bushes and hedges
Operate tractor or skid steer with attached equipment, mowers, trimmers, edgers and other equipment as needed to maintain facilities and grounds
Set up, take down and clean up for special events
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Facilities Maintenance Tech - High School diploma or equivalent required with experience working with small tools and proficiency on at least one piece of related equipment preferred OR any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable
Good practical knowledge of park grounds and facility maintenance practices
Pertinent safety precautions
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to operate heavy equipment
Ability to make simple adjustments and perform thorough maintenance to equipment
Computer skills such as Word, Excel nad Outlook preferred Physical Requirements
Hazards:
Exposure to high noise levels
Minimum exposure to chemicals and fuel oils
Routine exposure to adverse weather, dust, noise, fumes, vibrations and repetitiveness
Environment:
Field 80%
Office: 20%
Physical Effort:
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
Operation of commercial mower and landscaping equipment, powered hand tools and other facility maintenance equipment as qualified
May require heavy lifting, climbing ladders and working under adverse conditions
Frequently required to walk, stand, use of hands and fingers, handle, feel, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear
Must travel to project sites
Additional Information
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License required with an acceptable driving record
Twelve (12) month probation period
May work beyond normal work schedule
Essential staff designation
Must wear uniform, including safety equipment Application Special Instructions
