Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Clerk / Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing procedures and coding, along with exceptional organizational skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be attentive to detail with multi-tasking capabilites; computer skills and usage of office equipment with ability to work independently, prioritize workload, time management and assess results.
Salary will be based on experience
Duties:
Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors, also entering out of office billing charges. Insurance eligibility verification and pre-authorizations.
Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies through clearinghouse
Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
Maintain patient billing records and medical records and respond to inquiries
Answer phones, schedule patient appointments, typical office paperwork, scanning, computer work, etc.
Will cross train to help with other departments in office also.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in medical billing, coding, and terminology
- Familiarity ICD-10 coding systems
- Experience in medical collections and records management
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
