The assistant manager of dining services is vital to the daily operations of the dietary department and dining room operation to ensure the well-being of Carolina Inn residents. The assistant manager of dining services works daily with the director of life enrichment and the assistant director of culinary services to ensure food quality and service standards meet or exceed the expectations for each meal served.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the front of house (FOH) staff members to ensure daily operations go smoothly.
  • Maintain 90% resident satisfaction survey score and round dining rooms to ensure resident satisfaction.
  • Ensure that each meal is sampled for quality assurance.
  • Work with FOH team to ensure food quality, presentation, and timeliness of meals.
  • Hold FOH team accountable for stocking dining rooms per par list.
  • Responsible for all daily sanitation standards.
  • Hold team accountable for compliance to diet and meal completion checklist.
  • Maintain standards for snack cart.
  • Ensure par levels of all tableware/utensils to eliminate the use of disposables.
  • Hold team accountable for always available all-day menu.
  • Ensures that all dining areas, food preparation, and service areas are clean, neat, and organized.
  • Always adhere to health department rules and regulations.
  • Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with safety and loss prevention programs, along with standards and procedures for the handling and storage of hazardous materials and/or waste and complies with all government regulations.
  • Ensures the quality of operations, including dishware, linens, and food and beverage items.
  • Complying with all client, company, and state food safety requirements.
  • Perform daily operational duties.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of the policies and procedures of an assisted living facility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently.
  • Ability to motivate people and be sensitive to their needs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and staff.
  • Understanding and awareness of the needs of the aging population.
  • Must be energetic and friendly.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Respect for resident rights and confidentiality.
  • Weekends and holidays are required.


Education:

  • Associate Degree or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Physical Activity Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and sometimes lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
  • Utilizes proper lifting and body mechanics to prevent personal injury.
