Description:

Carolina Health Centers, Inc. is looking for a Behavioral Health Coordinator to support their growing Behavioral Health Department. Carolina Health Centers, Inc. is a decorated patient-centered medical home that serves children and families throughout a seven-county area. The BH Coordinator will be an integral member of the Behavioral Health Department at Carolina Health Centers in Greenwood, SC.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities, trainings, and meetings as indicated by the Director of Behavioral Health, per objectives and needs of BH and integrated care programming.
  • Coordinate placement needs for clinical staff and manages non-billable care coordination tasks working to reduce no-show rates and to best support BH Clinicians across the department to optimize BH Clinicians billable time.
  • Oversee scheduling updates and changes for BH providers, in coordination with Practice Managers and as approved by the Director of Behavioral Health.
  • Facilitate the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process for BH providers. Assists in the initial screening of applicants and serves as a liaison for candidates throughout the advertising, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding process.
  • Manage supply needs for BH providers, including ordering supplies with the approval of the Director of Behavioral Health and then distributing them accordingly.
  • Serve as a liaison between CHC departments and the Director of Behavioral Health, performing as a gatekeeper of information exchange and accountability on a programmatic level. These departments include, but are not limited to, Medical Providers (Family Medicine & Pediatrics), Pharmacy, Early Childhood Services, Human Resources, Finance, Quality and Population Health, Compliance, Marketing, and IT.
  • Manage on-site training programs for behavioral health students and interns and assists in the development of these programs by collaborating with the Director of Behavioral Health. Coordinates onboarding requirements and activities for trainees, logistics of daily placement activities, and monitoring of training schedule.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to oversee BH-related trainings offered to staff and providers, including those that occur during new employee orientation.
  • Assist the Director of Behavioral Health with improving workflows within and between departments and sites. Addresses quality improvement activities, points of accountability, and gaps in service.
  • Meet with immediate supervisor on a bi-weekly basis at minimum to ensure that support, troubleshooting, progress reviews, and planning occur in a timely and productive manner.
  • Participate in organizational and community meetings that perpetuate the understanding of CHC’s BH department and services, promoting and reinforcing CHC’s commitment to providing excellent integrated BH services.
  • Compiles department monthly utilization data to be presented at regular board meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in or a related field: psychology, social work, sociology, public health, business, health administration, etc.

Experience and Skills:

  • Familiarity with trauma informed care principles
  • Demonstrated skill in managing many projects in the course of the work day
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
  • Flexibility with daily schedule and interruptions throughout the day to meet behavioral health department needs
  • Ability to deliver patient updates in a clear, concise manner
  • Coordinate patient care with community partners
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and consensus building skills
  • Ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records
  • Documenting in a timely, clear, and concise manner

Physical Abilities:

  • Required to talk and hear in order to communicate with others
  • Often required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Visual abilities required by this job include close vision with moderate exposure to a computer screen

Work Environment:

This position involves exposure to patient elements. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Requirement to out-of town and/or overnight travel is minimal.

Responsible to:

Reports directly to the Director of Behavioral Health. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) retains ultimate oversight of the performance of the behavioral health department.
