Carolina Beverage is Hiring a Facilities and Utilities Manager Near Cold Spring, MN

JOB TITLE: Utilities Manager
Location: Cold Spring, MN
Department: Maintenance

Status: Exempt
Position Summary: This position is responsible to provide leadership and direction in the planning, organizing and control of the maintenance and repair of facilities and production support equipment through the use of maintenance and skilled trades.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assign, schedule and supervise the maintenance and repair work of buildings and equipment. Inspect buildings and equipment for needed repair and maintenance work and respond to emergency site maintenance as required and confer/advise management regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
  • Schedule and assign work in the skilled trade areas of Carpentry, Electrical, Painting, Plumbing, Welding, and Heating. Schedule on-call and preventative maintenance personnel. Assist in selection, training and evaluation of maintenance personnel as well.
  • Perform performance appraisals with every direct report every 12-months.
  • Work with managers and employees on a daily basis to solve problems and create opportunities for success.
  • Ensure proper levels of tools, materials and supplies are adequate to support level of maintenance activity for the company.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance projects including such requirements as consulting with engineers, outside contractors and maintenance personnel, request drawings, specifications and receive quotes. Inspect the work in progress as well as upon completion and take actions as needed to bring projects to successful completion.
  • Coordinate and manage the installation of new equipment as well as the movement of production equipment including the installation of any required utilities.
  • Monitor equipment operating costs to achieve the most efficient use of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned or required by the customer or Director


Position Requirements:

  • 5-10 years, which 3-5 years should include supervisory experience, in a Production environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to direct and lead people
  • Must have above average organizational skills
  • Ability to create metrics for quality, cost and delivery maintenance services
  • Extended standing on hard surfaces.
  • Must have strong mechanical background, including thorough knowledge in areas of maintenance, plumbing, electrical, welding, heating, and refrigeration
  • May need to travel to other company or customer locations
  • Knowledge working in Outlook, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and use of company web-based programs
  • May be required to work and direct in confined spaces and work with high pressure steam
  • Will work around noise, dust, variable temperatures, and use of production chemicals
  • Regular climbing to elevated areas, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 60lbs.
  • Position must be able to communicate with all levels of employees, vendors, customers, and visitors.

About Carolina Beverage

The Carolina Beverage Corporation was started in Salisbury, NC by a general store owner named LD Peeler. Peeler first began distributing a soft drink called Mint Cola. In 1917 during a World War I sugar shortage, LD Peeler began experimenting with other flavors and developed the soft drink Cheerwine. Today Cheerwine is the primary beverage sold by the company. The company is still based in Salisbury and is privately owned and managed by the same founding family, five generations of whom have worked there. 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of Cheerwine.
