DescriptionWe are excited to announce an incredible opportunity to join Carnegie Mellon University as the Assistant Dean for Entrepreneurship Initiatives. This position is responsible for directing a broad range of business management and administrative functions in support of the mission of Project Olympus and the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship. The goal is to make CMU the destination of choice for entrepreneurs, produce winning commercial ventures, and develop an extensive, vibrant network of alumni entrepreneurs. As part of this mission, Project Olympus’ role is to serve as the ‘startup incubator’ for CMU. Responsibilities
  • Create and implement strategies and activities for startup project initiatives across various stages and sectors.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to identify and promote entrepreneurial opportunities
  • Design and deliver innovative programs and curriculum to foster entrepreneurial skills among students. Focus on programs such as Olympus' Customer discovery Kickstart (CDK), Innovation Commercialization Fellows (ICF), and NSF i-Corps HUB.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with industry leaders, investors, and the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students and faculty in launching successful startups. Mentors on company establishment, team assembly, market analysis, financial planning, legal advice, and enhancing sales, marketing and communication competencies.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and collaboration, ensuring all voices are heard and valued.
  • Develop and manage the budget for entrepreneurship initiatives, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in entrepreneurship education.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in entrepreneurship, either in an academic or industry setting.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing entrepreneurship programs or initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • Understanding the latest developments and effective approaches in entrepreneurship education.
