FLSA Status: Exempt - Salaried

Position Summary
Caritas seeks a dynamic, dedicated individual as Director of Housing at Espero Rutland who will provide comprehensive management and oversight to Caritas staff. The Director will guide staff in providing evidence-based services to all clients residing at the property. This will include personalized support via case management and connection to health services. The Director will work collaboratively with Caritas integrated services (education, employment, food services and volunteer support) to meet the individual needs of the clients. The Director will bring proven non-profit management expertise and experience in community-based programs. This is a highly visible position that ensures the work is carried out in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and culture of Caritas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (inclusive but not exhaustive):
Program Management
  • Plan, develop, implement, and maintain services that meet the needs of the clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other service providers and funding sources.
  • Is familiar with all aspects of government and private grants applicable to Espero, including government policies related to all grants.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Identify and guide program manager in implementing systems that streamline workflow.
  • Prepare program reports as needed.
  • Participate in all program monitoring reviews conducted by funding sources.
  • Participate in all Espero budget meetings and participate in the annual Espero budget development process.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of potential risk to the agency, including clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Facilitates collaborative and effective relationships between program staff and property management staff.
Leadership
  • Remains calm steady and focused on the face of pressure, meets deadlines, and is not intimidated by tasks/time limitations
  • Has superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to generate respect and trust from colleagues, direct reports, and external constituents.
  • Consistently research best practices for service delivery and changes to government regulations relevant to housing services.
  • Identifies opportunities and challenges and works across departments and teams to craft innovative solutions.
  • As directed by supervisor, represents Caritas at relevant community meetings and committees.
Client Services
  • Ensure that housing services adhere to evidence-based and best practices, including adherence to Housing First principles.
  • Structure program and guide manager to lead the team to deliver outstanding client services.
  • Ensure staff adherence to Client Services Policies and Procedures manual.
  • Participate in all relevant programmatic meetings.
  • Guide program supervisors in identifying critical data collection needs (outputs and outcomes).
  • Use results of program evaluation and data to continuously improve client services and ensure client satisfaction.
Supervision
  • Hire, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate program supervisors.
  • Understand and adhere to hiring policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that strategic professional development is happening for staff at all levels, including accessing outside training and planning for team-wide learning opportunities.
  • Understand and adhere to agency policies and procedures, e.g., Employee Handbook.
  • Lead the departmental team in developing their skills, a positive morale, and positive working relationships reflective of agency values and philosophy..
Organization Support Functions
  • Participate in agency-wide events, planning and training functions.
  • Comply with administrative procedures, reporting, and record keeping policies.
  • Design an approved plan for professional development as a director and leader.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree. A degree in social work, psychology, public health, counseling, education, or other related fields in human services from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Required: Master’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, counseling, education, or other related fields in human services from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred: Licensure: LMSW, LCSW, LPC or LCDC
EXPERIENCE
  • Required: have a minimum of five (5) years of program-related experience.
  • Required: have a minimum of five (5) years of leadership and management experience.
  • Preferred: At least 3 years of housing experience (e.g., permanent supportive housing and/or rapid rehousing)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and solving complex programmatic issues.
  • Ability to be honest, open, and straightforward.

  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Intentional focus on cultural humility and inclusion.
COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Must be computer literate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite

Salary/Benefits:
  • Base Salary Range: $76,541 -$87,260
    • The salary offered will follow Caritas of Austin salary guidelines based on candidate's education and experience.
  • Employer paid health, dental, vision, life, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance for employees.

  • 20 days of accrued PTO in year one with increases up to 31 days per year.
