DEFINITION: Provides companion services to individuals in Atlantic County suffering from dementia in order to provide respite to caregiver.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Satisfactory results of drug and alcohol and criminal background screening upon hire
• Complete training provided by employer

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Attend initial training and follow-up trainings as as necessary
• Act as a companion weekly or on an otherwise agreed regular basis to an individual in the Atlantic County community suffering from dementia in order to provide relief to the primary caregiver inside the home.
• In accordance with the training provided, establish a rapport with the service recipient by spending quality time with him/her listening to music, looking through family photo albums, taking walks, or simply sitting together to reminisce, while the primary caregiver is free to leave the home
• Provide all services in a professional manner and with quality customer service as a priority
• Prepare reporting as required by supervisor
• Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor
