**Western Hills Nursing and Rehab has been faithfully serving Cincinnatis west side community for 30 years with a history of providing excellent nursing care and successful rehabilitation services. We are currently looking for enthusiastic, responsible people to join our housekeeping team. Prior healthcare cleaning experience is preferred but we are willing to train.**

**Hours are 7am - 3pm full-time 5 shift per week with every-other weekend off.**

**Also, looking for a weekend environmental porter to collect and properly dispose of trash throughout the facility. Hours are 7a-3p every Saturday/Sunday.**

**BASIC FUNCTION**

The primary purpose of you job position is to perform the day-today activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility and as may be directed by the Administrator, Director of Housekeeping and/or Supervisor of Housekeeping Services, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner, and comfortable manner.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

* Education and Experience:

Must possess, as a minimum a 10th grade education. No experience requires; on-the-job training provided.

* Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day. Must have visual acuity and hearing sense or use prosthetics that will enable senses to function adequately to perform duties. Must be in good general health; demonstrate emotional stability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment in excess of fifty pounds.

* Specific Requirements:

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions, etc. Must have a positive attitude actively promoting teamwork.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

Works in all areas of the facility. Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittent during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule cleaning activities. Works beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary. Is subject to falls, burns from equipment or chemicals, odors, reactions from dust, disinfectants, etc. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions etc. May be required to work weekends and holidays, or on other shifts.

**NATURE AND SCOPE OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

**Housekeeping Services:**

Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned and in accordance with daily work assignments. Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, etc., in residents rooms, recreational areas, etc., daily. Clean, wash, sanitize, and or polish bathroom fixtures. Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit doors. Clean, sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, buffing, disinfecting, etc., all floors utilizing proper safety procedures. Clean, vacuuming, shampoo, deodorize, and disinfect carpets. Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, etc. Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. Clean hallways, stairways and elevators. Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline receptacles. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times. Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers. Report burned out lights or facility areas requiring repair to supervisor.

**Administrative Functions:**

Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical. Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident areas. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor immediately.

**Safety and Sanitation:**

Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, attractive, safe, and sanitary manner. Assure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures. Coordinate isolation procedures with nursing service. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor. Follow all established fire and safety policies and procedures. Keep work area free of hazardous objects, unnecessary equipment/supplies. Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures.

**Residents Rights:**

Maintain the confidentiality of resident information. Honor the residents person and property rights.

**Equipment and Supply:**

Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor immediately. Keep work/assignment area free of hazardous objects or conditions. Ensure that equipment/supplies are cleaned/stored at the end of shift. Report all equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as practical.

**Staff Development:**

Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, on-the-job training programs, etc. as scheduled or directed.

**Other Duties:**

Dining Assistance: Providing minor assistance, such as setting up of delivered meal tray, (e.g. removing domed lids, opening milk cartons, ensuring adaptive equipment is available i.e. curved utensils or cups with lids, clothing protectors available, etc.) ordering additional food per residents request and observing residents during meal, reporting any problems to the nurse. Practice good infection control by washing hands prior to providing dining assistance.
