Director of Nursing
Reports to:Facility Administrator

Overall Responsibilities:
Participates as a member of the facilities management team in planning and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions and operations of the facility’s nursing services.Plans and coordinates nursing services by following both State and Federal regulations pertaining to nursing home guidelines.Is responsible for patient care, management and all the required nursing systems.
Qualifications:
·Must have a current RN license
·CPR certified
·RUG certification
·Infection Preventionist certification
·Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in English
·Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
·Ability to work flexibly and positively with intermittent interruptions
·Prior nurse management preferably in a long term care/skilled nursing setting
·Knowledge of and the ability to operate computer systems
·Ability to effectively communicate with different levels of staff, residents, families and regulators
Essential Functions:
·Responsible for managing, directing and supervising nursing services
·Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practice within the facility
·Assist in developing policies and procedures that govern nursing services
·Responsible for staff performance, recruitment, retention and maintaining a positive nursing team
·Participates in appropriate meetings and committees
·Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and facility guests
·Uses tactful, appropriate forms of communication in sensitive and emotional situations
·Other duties as assigned
