Carillon is recruiting for a hospitality focused Director of Plant Operations to join our team! This role is responsible for overseeing the care and maintenance of all aspects of the community’s physical plant to include maintaining an effective preventative maintenance program; the hiring, training and supervising of all plant and housekeeping employees; the coordinating of life safety and security programs; the procuring of supplies, material and equipment, and assisting with budget preparation and operating within budgetary guidelines.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Director of Plant Operations:

  • Evaluates and purchases supplies and tools utilizing PO system, ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Supervises the performance of landscaping, maintenance and security personnel through inspections and other quality assurance procedures.
  • Completes assigned work orders daily according to work order system policy.
  • Selects, trains, evaluates and disciplines all plant personnel.
  • Creates, maintains, and completes safety records and inspections for all plant-equipment systems according to regulations and company procedures.
  • Calls out contractors, plumbers, and electricians when necessary and cost efficient.
  • Maintains the operation of emergency medical and power generating equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of department equipment.
  • Inspects all equipment and systems regularly for proper functioning and safety. Inspects building and grounds regularly for compliance with local codes, ordinances and safety regulations.
  • Maintains the fire and life safety equipment at Carillon.
  • Trains staff on various maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Advises and consults with the Executive Director on maintenance and repair needs concerning the building, equipment and grounds.
  • Troubleshoots the heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Serves as “Fire Safety Coordinator” for Carillon.
  • Participates in the research, preparation and writing of department budget.
  • Operates the department within budget guidelines.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

  • Have a High School diploma/GED.
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field preferred. Experience may be substituted for education on a year-to-year basis.
  • Have at least five (5) years experience in plant engineering and/or trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, refrigeration, ground maintenance, masonry, and/or maintenance.
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience preferred.
